Zoe Saldana’s Deceptively Simple but Effective Fitness Technique

Zoe SaldanaEven, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, most will agree that Zoe Saldana is a beautiful woman. She is up there with the Halle Berrys, J Los, and Beyoncés of this world. When I came across an article about her unique way of keeping fit and healthy, naturally my interest was piqued.

But first a brief introduction to Zoe Saldana.

Just Who Is Zoe Saldana?

According to Wikipedia, Zoe Saldana-Perego, known professionally as Zoe Saldana or Zoë Saldana, is an American actress and dancer. She made her screen debut in an episode of Law & Order television show (1999). Her film career started a year a year later with Center Stage, where she played a struggling ballet dancer.

For one to play a ballet dancer, one has to look the part. Some things you just can’t fake, no matter how good an actor you are. Which tells you that Zoe Saldana has it. You know, the toning, flexibility and all. The Gamora role too requires a fit and strong appearance.

Fitness the Zoe Way: With Just 20 Minutes a Day

Many models and actresses have to follow a highly restrictive diet regimen to stay in shape. They often spend hours in the gym every day, and count each calorie they take in. They also typically have all kinds of experts including personal, dieticians, and nutritionists. Not Zoe Saldana.

The actress the actress recently told Shape magazine (June 2017 issue) that she doesn’t believe in things like diets and cheat days. “I try not to deprive my body of anything, because the moment I have just salads and protein for a few days, I crave carbs”, she stated. Her secret?

Clean eating and interval training. She likes whole foods and shuns things that come in a can and, more recently, in plastic. She eats “everything in balance”. What about her workouts?

Like most of us, she is pressed for time – yes, it happens to celebrities too – so spending hours in the gym is out of the question. Therefore, she does 20 minutes of high intensity interval training several times a week. Our previous post talks about the effectiveness of high intensity training vs running to get fit.

Saldana lets her diet do the rest of the work. Which she has made simple and easy. It’s all about keeping it simple and finding out what works for you.
