If you think that wart on your genitals is just a wart, then you’re wrong. Genital warts are considered a form of sexually transmitted disease (STD). Discovering you have a sexually transmitted disease is not easy. Embarrassment, discomfort, low self-esteem, depression and anxiety are some of the negative feelings you might experience from being a victim of an STD.
Genital warts are one of the most common types of STD. They are extremely contagious and are transmitted through direct contact. You may shrug this off and say, “Warts are warts, and they’re harmless!” While they may not be as life threatening as the other STDs, they can still be uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are numerous effective ways to remove genital warts.
Genital warts appear as fleshy-colored or gray clusters found on your privates. They are more common in adults between the ages of 17-30 because of increased sexual activity. They are highly contagious and are passed along by direct physical contact with an infected person.
Genital warts may take months to develop after the initial infection. A person who has been infected with genital warts or Human papilloma virus (HPV) can transmit them even if the warts are not yet visible on their body. These warts can be very uncomfortable and unpleasant for the infected person. The good news is that there are lots of effective genital wart removal remedies.
Before we go to the treatment options for genital warts, I’ll give you a bit of information about them.
The culprit that caused your misery is the Human papilloma virus; this is the infamous wart virus. There are different HPV types, and the common wart is a different variety of HPV than the type of HPV that creates genital warts.
Listed below are numerous approaches to genital wart removal:
One approach to genital wart removal is an OTC formula called Podofilox, an antiviral topical cream or gel. It is not recommended that pregnant women use this cream.
In cases of pregnant women, cryosurgery would be a good procedure. Cryosurgery uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart; however, there is a high chance of recurrence with this option of treatment procedure.
A surgical method of removing a wart is called excision. It is considered a minor surgery and is effective in removing genital warts. The only downside with this method is the chance of scarring.
Laser surgery is not considered a good option for this kind of wart because it is costly and not very effective for genital warts.
There is also another type of medical procedure that is said to be more effective than cryosurgery and that is Electrocauterization. This method of procedure removes the wart tissue by implementing electricity.
Another approach that is not as well known is the natural method of wart removal – this is a system that is preferred by many because it is less expensive, less invasive and can be done in the privacy of your own home. This system uses natural ingredients such as vitamin E oil combined with garlic, apple cider vinegar and many others!
This natural procedure may take a bit longer than the others but it is safe and effective.
