Protein Shake Recipes to Fuel Your Workouts Year Round!

protein shake recipesAh, the protein shake! It can be a delight to drink. Or not, if you don’t get it right. Protein shakes have become almost synonymous with health and fitness. They are used extensively for various health goals including muscle building, weight management (weight loss or healthy weight gain), and as pre-workout or post-workout meal.

Protein shakes can be a difficult food item to get right. Sometimes they taste too chalky, sometimes they are so thick you can hardly drink them, and other times they taste like cement. It takes some experimenting to get it right. Plus, of course, the right protein powder.

Protein powders come in various forms including whey, casein, milk, egg, hemp, and colostrum, to name but a few. Some, such as whey are fasting-acting, while others such as casein are slow-acting.

Typically, protein shakes are made by simply mixing protein powder and water, usually in a blender. But with a little creativity they can be made more “interesting” and flavorful. Protein shake recipes you’ll find below go beyond this and are for all seasons.

These recipes are tried and truly delicious. Some contain fruit and veggies and all of them have protein powder to help you recover from your workout or start your day out right. Scroll through these recipes to see how you can spice up your protein intake!
