According to reports from various quarters, Kim Kardashian has a new weight loss “secret”. Just catch the flu. Of course, not everybody thinks it’s a strategy, system, or even funny. Naturally, and understandably, there is more than enough chagrin to go around.
Kim is arguably the most famous of the Kardashians, though not the oldest. This is perhaps due to her equally if not more famous hind-quarters. No doubt, her rear end’s fame is up there with other bootylicious celebs including J Lo and Beyoncé (who is credited for coming up with that term).
Many people, I included struggle with weight daily. Different things work for different people. For me it is a mix weight training and HIIT (high intensity interval training). Plus, of course, watching what and how much I eat. So, according to Kim, all I need is to get sick, right? GRRR!
Controversy may be a celebrity’s friend. As they say, any publicity is good publicity. But does this Kardashian need to spew such outright and profound insanity and inanity for it?
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not a Kardashian hater. Neither am I a fan. But, like I’ve said before, you can hate or love the Kardashians but you can’t ignore them.
The 36-year-old reality TV star recently tweeted that she easily lost 6 pounds after falling sick with the flu, adding that it was in perfect timing for her upcoming appearance at the annual Met Gala in New York City. Optimism, vanity, or humor? I have no idea, but it sure did not go down well with a lot of people.
“The flu can be an amazing diet,” she said in the tweet.
Not only that, Kim—we’ll call her by her first name to avoid confusion with the other Kardashians—also posted videos of herself in what has been described as “risqué sparkling bikini” on Snapchat.
Naturally, the backlash was swift and brutal. For one, struggling with weight loss can and does drive many people to daily tears. Secondly, the flu is not a joke. It can and does kill. Thirdly, you don’t wish to catch the flu “diet”. At least not if you’re in your right state of mind. It cannot be a weight loss method of choice for anyone.
I don’t get flu shots. But that is out of choice, not because I want to catch it. And I intend to keep it that way.
Kim has since deleted the tweet(s) and pulled the Snapchat videos.
