Immune System Supplements Other Than The Omega-3 Q10 Duo

It seems that every few years, a new dietary fad emerges based on a traditional diet found in particular countries. You might have heard of French Women Don’t Get Fat (because apparently most of them enjoy calorie loaded cakes and sweets only in an elegant and refined moderation), or the Israeli Army Diet (which actually had no connection whatsoever to the meals that the Israeli army served its soldiers).

Omega-3 And The Mediterranean Diet

Most of these fads die out rather quickly, or are superseded by a new fad. But what about the more general diets of a particular country or region? You might have heard of the Mediterranean diet, which is based on the traditional types of food regularly consumed in Spain, Greece and Italy. These diets combine a range of fresh fruits and vegetables with a higher than average consumption of fish and seafood, which can contribute to a longer, healthier life. The key element of this diet is the fish, since fish is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, a compound that reduces blood pressure and strengthens the heart, leading to a significant reduction in the chances of developing cardio-vascular disease.

The Omega-3 Q10 Duo Supplement

If you’re not fond of fish, you might not be so keen on this way of eating, so naturally, science has a solution. There are many Omega-3 supplements on the market, and these give you the benefit of the diet without having to eat all that fish. Omega-3’s are increasingly being combined with Q10, a compound that is most common in red meat, to give you an added vitamin boost for your immune system. But there are other supplement options for a healthy immune system.

Alternatives To Omega-3 Q10

There are a vast range of vitamin supplements to boost your immune system available on the market, although most of them contain some common ingredients. Echinacea is an extract from the coneflower and has long been known as a natural immune booster. It can be taken in a pill or as a powder added to water. Grape Seed Extract can also be found in pill form, and it boosts the immune system while improving digestion, as it removes a lot of toxins from our digestive systems. Zinc supplements are rich in antioxidants, and are great for neutralizing free radicals (natural molecules formed in our body as we metabolize certain substances; an excess of these can deplete our immune systems). Green tea also contains a high level of antioxidants.

As always, a healthy diet is essential for maintaining a strong immune system, and while Omega-3 Q10 is a fantastic way of boosting your immune system, it’s not the only option out there. Sometimes a bit of trial and error is necessary when deciding which immune system boosting supplement is best for you. It can be a great idea to consult your pharmacist, as they can help you navigate your way through the often overwhelming number of supplements on offer.
