The Supplements You Need
Getting the right supplements comes down to one person, you. First, you must know you goals. Your lifestyle also matters (for example, physically active vs. sedentary). For general well-being and good health overall, you usually can't go wrong with a multivitamin and mineral supplement. the quality of your chosen multivitamin is also important as it will do you no good if it doesn't deliver the nutrients you need to your body.
Here's a video by Dr. Oz about the supplements most people need:
While I agree with Dr. Oz that most if not all of us need a DHA fish oil supplement, I am not sure about vitamin D. But he is a doctor and I am not. I don't disagree that we do need vitamin D per se. A surprisingly high number of people (40 to 75 percent according to WebMD) are deficient of the "sunshine" vitamin. However, a good multivitamin will have the recommended 400IU of of Vitamin D. Our multivitamin of choice has 500IU. By the way, you should go for Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) because this is the most active form as a supplement.
